PSPICE PD control-loop simulation files:
Note that these are PSPICE schematic files, you would need to download them to your computer and run the old MicroSim Design Lab version 8 to read and use them (that is the version included on the disc that comes with the EEC110 book)
transient (closed-loop step response)
small-signal AC (for Bode plots)

Data Sheets & Application Notes

    XYZs of Oscilloscopes
This is a primer on oscilloscopes from Tektronix. I highly recommend that you read it! It is very helpful to understand how a scope works when you are using one to debug circuits.

    PID Controller Tutorial
This tutorial discusses the operation of PID control loops, how to implement them digitally (i.e., with a microcontroller), what sample rate to choose and why, and discusses a procedure for tuning a PID loop (this procedure is useful for analog PID controllers too).

    Sensor Modeling
This short paper by a UCB student should provoke some thinking about how to model your sensors and how to choose what orientation to use and so on. It does not discuss all of the things you should think about it - so go beyond it! But, it is a good start.

    H-bridge controller schematic
This schematic shows one way of making an H-bridge controller using discrete logic chips.

PCB layout for boards with +/-5 and +5V regulators
This pdf file shows the top & bottom layers and silkscreen.

PCB layout for boards with +/-5 and +5V regulators
This pdf file shows just the bottom layer and silkscreen.

PCB layout for boards with motor drive FETs
This pdf file shows the top & bottom layers and silkscreen.
NOTE:This PCB has an error on it (a picture is taped to the front of one of the cabinets in the lab; the -5V line is connected to the ground plane in one place).

PCB layout for boards with motor drive FETs
This pdf file shows just the bottom layer and silkscreen.

    Guide to reading resistor values
This sheet shows you the resistor color code and give some other useful guidelines for reading resistor values.

    AN711
This is an application note that describes the LM78S40 switching regulator IC.

    LM78S40
This is the LM78S40 switching regulator IC data sheet.

    LM555
This is the venerable LM555 data sheet - we may still have some around, but any new ones should be LMC555's.

    LMC555
This is the LMC555 data sheet; the LMC555 is the CMOS replacement for the LM555 and should work the same in all the circuits you have built with the LM555.

    FQP60N03L
This is the data sheet for the MOS power FETs. We have some others with different numbers, but the pin out is the same and they should all work - they just have slightly different current limits and so on.

    ZTX753
This is the external pnp transistor we use for the -5V converters.

    QRB1113
This is the IR LED/phototransistor pair that can be used as an optical track sensor.

    LM6144
This is the high-slew-rate opamp that is suitable for use in the super-diode rectifiers.

    LMC6484
This is a general purpose quad rail-to-rail CMOS opamp.

    LMC662
This is an inexpensive general purpose dual rail-to-rail CMOS opamp.

    FIT inductors
These are the inductors we have in stock for the DC-to-DC converters.

    CNZ1021
These photo-interrupters are one possible part to use for speed sensing. You will need to make and mount a disc with holes in it (or a clear disk with opaque lines on it) and mount the photo-interrupter so that the edge of the disc is in the slot.
