Masood Parvania, Ph.D.
I am currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Davis, in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, working with Prof. Anna Scaglione.
Prior to joining UC Davis, I have been a Research Associate in the Robert W. Galvin center for electricity innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, IL, worked with Prof. Mohammad Shahidehpour. I completed my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in the Sharif University of Technology, under co-supervision of Prof. Mahmud Fotuhi-Firuzabad and Prof. Mohammad Shahidehpour.
My research interests and areas of expertise include smart grid applications and technologies, sustainable energy integration, and cyber-physical systems. Visit my CV page for more information.
The paper entitled "Comparative Hourly Scheduling of Centralized and Distributed Storage in Day-Ahead Markets" is published in the IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Energy.
I gave an invited talk at the EECS department of the University of California, Berkeley, hosted by Professor Kameshwar Poolla.
The paper entitled "ISO's Optimal Strategies for Scheduling the Hourly Demand Response in Day-ahead Markets" is accepted to be published in the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems.
I am selected as a member of the "Iran's National Elites foundation".
The paper entitled "Optimal Demand Response Aggregation in Wholesale Electricity Markets" is published in Special Issue on "Real-Time Demand Response" of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid.
I receievd the Sharif University’s Outstanding Achievement Award, from Sharif University’s president for the outstanding academic achievements during my graduate studies.
The two-part papers entitled "A Two-Stage Framework for Power Transformer Asset Maintenance Management—Part I" and "Part II" are published in the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems.
I receievd the prestigious Nation-wide Distingushed PhD Student Award by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. The selection has been made among all PhD student of Iran universities.
The paper entitled "A Comprehensive Control Framework for Ensuring Loading Margin of Power Systems Considering Demand-Side Participation" is published in the IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution.
I appointed as the chair of the IEEE/PES Task Force on Reliability Impacts of Demand Response Integration (RIDRI) in Electric Power Systems. The Task Force is sponsored by the RRPA subcommittee.
I gave a presentation on "An Analytical Approach for Reliability Evaluation of Aged Distribution Systems" at the IEEE Second Great Lakes Symposium on Smart Grid and the New Energy Economy, Chicago, IL.
The paper entitled "Optimized Midterm Preventive Maintenance Outage Scheduling of Thermal Generating Units" is published in the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems.
I presented at the panel session titled "Demand response: analytics, practice, and challenges in smart grid environment" at the IEEE PES General Meeting 2012, San Diego, CA. My presentation title was "Demand Response Participation in Wholesale Energy Markets".
