The ECE department manages four (4) computer labs housing workstations running Linux and Windows operating systems. Printers are available in two of the public laboratories. In addition, many research labs have substantial computing resources of their own. Access to research group computers is granted by the computer support group only upon approval by the head faculty member of the research group.

Lab Resources

Kemper 2107

Kemper 2107 houses thirty two (32) workstations in support of the computer engineering curriculum at the undergrad level. All lab workstations are Dell Precision Workstation T3600s with Xeon processor E5-1600 family with 10M Cache and 3.6GHz CPU (SR0LC) & 16 GB RAM attached to 24" LCD displays running the RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 (64-bit) operating system. The computer support group works to maintain all Unix instructional software on these workstations. Room 2107 also houses an HP LaserJet 8100 b/w printer.

The Linux workstations in this room are remotely accessible. Fore more information see: Remote Connection Tutorial & Host Names.

Kemper 2110

Kemper 2110 has twenty one (21) work areas with a computer workstation & test equipment in support of undergraduate and graduate laboratory instruction. All workstations are Dell Precision WorkStation T3600s with Xeon processor E5-1600 family with 10M Cache and 3.6GHz CPU (SR0LC) & 16GB RAM connected to 24" LCD displays. The workstations are running the RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 (64-bit) operating system and may only offer the Unix instructional software required for the courses that reserve this room. Each work area also includes one HP 54600B oscilloscope, one HP 6237B triple output power supply, and one HP 3312A function generator. Room 2110 also houses an HP LaserJet 8150 b/w printer.

The Linux workstations in this room are remotely accessible. Fore more information see: Remote Connection Tutorial & Host Names.

Kemper 2112

Kemper 2112 houses twelve (12) work areas with a computer workstation which include test equipment in support of undergraduate and graduate laboratory instruction. All workstations are Dell Precision WorkStation T3600s with Xeon processor E5-1600 family with 10M Cache and 3.6GHz CPUs (SR0LC) & 16GB RAM with 24" LCD displays. All workstations run the Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit) operating system and offer only software requested for the courses that reserve this room. Physical access is restricted & a TA or instructor must be present when students are working in this lab except in special circumstances & with prior approval from the computer support group supervisor. Special accounts are required and allow access to Unix home directories and department printers. Ten of the work areas also have one HP 54600B oscilloscope, one HP E3630A triple output DC power supply, one HP 33120A function/arbitrary waveform generator, and one HP 34401A multimeter.

Kemper 1107

Kemper 1107 houses two (2) workstations of similar configurations for general use by ECE graduate students. Both workstations run Microsoft Windows XP. The room is equipped with an HP DesignJet 800 PS plotter for research and conference posters. A document scanner is also available for TAs.
