RESEARCH INTERESTS

Statistical signal processing; design and analysis of communication systems and wireless networks; stochastic control and decision theory for scheduling and resource allocation; information theory.

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Professor Qing Zhao explores the design and analysis of communication networks using theories and tools from detection and estimation, distributed statistical inference, and dynamic optimization and stochastic control. Her research emphasizes a scientific understanding of the inherent structure and behavior of large, complex, and heterogeneous communication networks. Active projects include cognitive algorithms and protocols for dynamic spectrum access, design and analysis of wireless and mobile networks, performance limits of large-scale ad hoc and sensor networks, and resource-constrained signal processing and wireless networking.

DISTINCTIONS

Qing Zhao received 2000 Young Author Best Paper Award from IEEE Signal Processing Society and the 2008 Outstanding Junior Faculty Award from the UC Davis College of Engineering. She is also a co-author (with her student) of two student paper awards.
