Professor Okamoto is conducting research in optical fibers, planar lightwave circuits, photonic millimeter-wave devices and next generation photonic integrated circuits. He developed various kinds of arrayed-waveguide grating (AWG) filters ranging from 8ch-50nm spacing AWG to 4200ch-5GHz spacing AWG, flat spectral response AWGs and fully-integrated reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexers (ROADMs).
