Energy Aware Computing
Friday, January 14, Giedt Hall 1002, 12:00pm-1:00pm
Technical Lead, Intel Software Services Group
Host: Professor Anna Scaglione
Power is increasingly becoming a central issue in designing systems, from embedded systems to data centers. The amount of energy consumed by data centers has doubled in recent years and minimizing power consumption is one of the primary technical challenges that today's IT organizations face. At the same time, the utility of mobile devices including laptops, netbooks, smartphones, tablets etc. is severely constrained by their battery life. This presentation will cover various aspects of power aware computing and energy usage in systems ranging from tablets/smartphones to data centers. The presentation will emphasize on the role of software in achieving overall platform energy efficiency.
Abhishek Agrawal is Technical Lead in Intel's Software Services Group and drives Intel's initiatives on power efficiency for client platforms.
He has significant research experience in energy efficiency and has authored several technical papers in refereed international conferences & journals and industry whitepapers. He has participated in numerous industry panels on Green Computing and is member of multiple industry power working groups such as EBLWG, UPAMD etc. Abhishek is a member of IEEE & ACM.
